The New Standard in Cleaning
Associate Profile: Jay Schoenberger

With nearly ten years’ experience, Jay Schoenberger has been assigned to nearly every Scioto account. Currently, Jay oversees the management aspect of the MEI general cleaning account.

Drawing from his extensive experience, the formula for success is easy for Jay: It all boils down to customer service. He describes, “Our tasks

vary greatly from one account
to the next, but two things always remain in the forefront:
the quality of the individuals
working for Scioto and the
importance of getting those
associates the tools they need
in order to perform their
tasks.” Jay suggests that part
of his management role is to
ensure that associates are provided with supplies that are
pre-approved for their job site
so they may operate in a safe
and professional manner.

Time spent working in the recruitment capacity has also
proved to be beneficial for Jay.
“ These skills have crossed
over into my management position because I have learned to recognize that an important

responsibility for a manager is having the ability to bring out the best in people. “My challenge is to put forth a great effort to understand what people are looking for out of their working lives, and how I must put their objectives into operation.”

With a management style clearly rooted in understanding and appreciating the value of each person, he is pleased to see how many individuals come to Scioto looking for a paycheck and stay when they realize the long term benefits of being part of the Scioto family. “It is not something that can be explained in an interview or orientation. It takes time to learn.”

Columbus Office Open for Business

Scioto Columbus is open! After much decision-making and preparation, moving day has arrived! The Columbus office, located at 1302 West Mound Street, offers the Columbus culture a major convenience not available to them through the corporate office in Marysville. Vice- President of Finance David Anderson explains the need for this community investment. “In order to serve our customers in this area, we need a strong presence in the community. Through the renovation of this building, we have created a positive image for ourselves in a place that our customers and associates will feel comfortable in which to come.”

Regional Manager Joe Warner is enthusiastic about how these improvements will affect the area accounts. “The main approach is to take everything that directly affects our associates from Marysville and bring it to Columbus. All the operational functions will now be available here. Candidates for employment will be able to interview at this office, and associates will be able to handle their personnel and benefits issues on site.” It also gives the Columbus crews a meeting point social gatherings and other work functions. Managers such as John Mawer (OSU) will benefit from the convenience. “I will be able to come to this office instead of driving to Marysville when I need to have computer access and perform administrative tasks.”

All in all, it is about community. Scioto President JR Kruse explains, “Scioto feels it is important to be part of the communities where we do business. We want to make an investment and have a presence in these communities to better serve our clients.”
