The New Standard in Cleaning
Associate Profile: Stephanie Benfield

While coming from the tuxedo business to the cleaning business is certainly a big jump, Stephanie Benfield found her secret to a smooth landing at Scioto in their one shared commonality: customer service. Stephanie explains, “ Working in retail for over ten years has had an affect on me. I enjoy being in the position of providing service to a client.”

Stephanie will soon celebrate her one-year anniversary at Scioto. Recently enjoying her first participation in the annual family picnic, she spoke highly of her peers. “I enjoy working with my team at DTR as well as all the other associates that I have met.”

While Stephanie is very proud of the relationships she has built with Scioto and DTR associates alike, her proudest accomplishment has been her promotion from Team Leader to Account Leader.

Regional Manager Joe Warner attributes her success to customer service excellence.

According to Joe, “Although Stephanie was not experienced in cleaning, she is a quick learner and her customer service background has made it possible for us to manage the DTR account in Lima from the Columbus office.” Joe adds, “ Stephanie came in looking for a job and has taken the Scioto philosophy and culture and applied it at the DTR account. Because of this, Stephanie is well-liked and respected and DTR treats Scioto like family.”

A Lima native, Stephanie enjoys walking, reading, swimming, shopping and fishing, and is looking forward to spending time with friends and family and vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee this fall.

Making the Grade in Building Readiness

Summer time is anything but vacation for the Mechanicsburg general cleaning staff. For them, it is probably the busiest time of year. Account Leader James Moore explains, Cleaning is done from top to bottom. We get many projects done during the summer so they don’t get in the way of the routine and regular work during the school year.”

Normally, the cleaning work is the same each summer but some building renovations brought about added challenges this year. New walls were added to facilitate extra class space and administrative offices. New file cabinets were added and old ones rearranged to make room for updated shelving. While teachers were busy cleaning out old filing cabinets, Scioto associates were on hand to cart trash away and move cabinets into their appropriate locations.

Students entered the doorways to a new academic year, their building fresh from a complete overhaul. All in all, 55 rooms were placed in the care of the crew, including offices, classrooms, restrooms and gymnasium.

From team projects to individual cleaning routes and responsibilities...

Pictured above, James Moore, Mark Lore and Shane Dugan enjoy the variety offered to them at this account. “ We had lots of challenges this summer, but we’re ready and anxious to get back to the new school year.”
